Expressing while feeding? Yes you can! I needed to express today (building up some emergency supply and will be donating to a milk bank soon) and Jules wanted to be carried (unsurprisingly 😂) so I got out a ringsling which allows for a quick and easy hip carry to free up space around the boob to pop a breast pump on there. He then wanted to have a little feed so I loosen the ringsling to lower him to nose-to-nipple height and used my arm to create some head support. Mum multi-tasking at its best all thanks to slings! Of course there are many other ways to do that without a sling but this is a nifty hack I wanted to share. Make sure the rings are not putting pressure on your breast or too near baby’s face (you can move them around your body if they annoy you on your front), baby’s body is well supported by the sling, neck well supported, nose visible at all times, baby’s head and neck aligned and you’re comfy! Re-tighten your OMG when you’re done. Love, Mel ♥️
Baby asleep 😴on you or can’t put them down to get your wrap ready? Try the front wrap cross carry! Also works well with a woven wrap. Give this carry a go when your baby feels too heavy for your stretchy wrap. Make sure you always respect safety when carrying your baby. Disclosure: I only have a few seconds to demo this, please take your time when wrapping ♥️ Love, Mel ☺️

Guess what? We’re in a magazine!Repost• @birthwrightwithhelenwright Not your classic tale of girl meets girl...😜 but it's a bloody brilliant story all the same! 🙌 And one we are very, very proud of! 🫂😍
What we are wearing today: it’s 18 degrees in London and sunny. Jules is wearing just 1 layer (long sleeves), the wrap is 3 thin layers and we both have to factor in our body heat, so I’m wearing just a thin vest (also easy access for boobing!). He’s wearing a thin cotton hat to protect him from the sun. Trousers and socks. And that’s enough! Remember to factor in your sling layers and your body heat when dressing baby. Lots of tips for carrying in the heat in my blog - link in bio. Have a lovely day you awesome folks ♥️
Ever tried to boob baby in your stretchy wrap? Give it a go! It might take a bit of practice at first and may not work for all babies depending on their latch or how they like to be positioned to feed. You can use this technique to feed standing up or stirring down. It can help relieve pain in the shoulders and wrists as the wrap takes the weight of the baby and you can use your forearms or elbows to support baby. This is not completely hands-free as it’s a cradle position but still freeing 1 hand (how do you need your hand right now, hey? 😂). For safety, ensure the nose is free and pressed against the breast/chest and don’t cover the head. Keep an eye on baby. Once you’re finished, bring baby back upright to carry them. Babies shouldn’t be carried lying down for safety. Love, Mel ♥️
